PRAISE AS A WEAPON
We give thanks to God for another beautiful day today, and I welcome us all into this new month. That said, what we shall be talking about as the first part of this series is titled “Praise as a Weapon.”
As we all know what it means to give praise, one of the things people like doing most, especially when they want to receive something from you, is to first praise you to please you. They know that when they have first praised you, whatever request that follows will be accepted with less questioning.
Not sure about here, but back home, if you are good at praising someone who you know is in charge, there is an upper chance that you will be loved and always receive gifts from the one in charge. And your praise will always create room for access and victory when others are trying to bring you down.
So I have seen people use praise as their weapon to find and receive favor from those who can favor them and help as well. Those who have used praise as a weapon to energize those who can help them win their battles.
So praise is not meant to be done ordinarily but must have an aim—either to praise for what you see as a situation, praise for the battle ahead of you, praise for an accomplishment of victory, or praise for who God is.
So the Bible says here, “Let the high praises of our God be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand.” In other words, before anything can be done, your praise must have gone ahead as a weapon to set the pace.
So praising God functions as a powerful spiritual weapon that shifts our focus from human struggles to divine power and brings confusion to opposing forces.
In the book of 2 Chronicles 20:17-22, there is a demonstration of God’s power through praise. The people of Judah and Jerusalem were able to accomplish a great victory through their praise to God.
What you need to know this morning is to understand that your praise must not be ordinary. You must see your praise as a weapon. The same God some used as a walking stick is the same gun others make use of as a weapon of destruction.
What am I saying here? Know the value of praising God, because your praise is a weapon of victory, a weapon of accomplishing great things, a weapon of warfare to bring confusion to the camp of your enemies.
Those who know how to give praise to God don’t give room to panic and fear. And the reason why you must praise is because you have no power of your own for a great accomplishment. You have no power of your own against the great multitude that is coming against you.
You do not have what it takes to bring your Jericho wall down outside of using your praise as a weapon. For when you shout, the walls will go down before you. When you praise, the giant will fall before you. When you proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light, no darkness will be able to stand before you again. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and He is to be feared above all gods.
This, Paul and Silas understood, and they made use of their weapon called praise. Joshua understood and he led the people to shout against their obstacles. Jehoshaphat had the same understanding and led Judah and Jerusalem to use praise as their weapon.
So to the discomfort, use praise as your weapon. To the terrified, praise God until your fear disappears. To the hopeless, praise God until the light becomes visible at the end of your tunnel. To the panicked, summon courage through praise. To the disappointed, praise God until your disappointment becomes appointment. To the shameful, praise God until your shame becomes praise. To the timid, let the praise of our God continually be in your mind.
For when you use praise as your weapon, you will see God replacing your suffering with prosperity, your defeat with victory, your zero record with tracks of accomplishment. Praise acts as a catalyst for divine exchange—exchanging human limitations for supernatural breakthroughs.
Praise shifts your spirit into the law of ease. It takes your mind off the scarcity of the moment and anchors it in the abundance of the Father, breaking the spirit of lack and personal decay.
Where there has been procrastination, stagnation, or a blank history of accomplishment, praise invites the “evidence of God’s promise.” It establishes a track record of divine favor, moving you swiftly from obscurity to purposeful momentum.
By praising Him before the breakthrough is visible, you declare that the victory belongs to the Lord, authorizing Him to rewrite your story with His authority.
Come on, somebody! Lift up that sound and elevate your praise right now! When you refuse to let your mouth stay silent, your praise becomes an absolute weapon of war. You are facing the course, but you are not facing it in your own strength.
When you keep the high praises of God in your mouth 24/7, you launch a spiritual counter-attack against every distraction, every delay, and every voice of opposition trying to bring stagnation.
Break out of the zero record today. Step into your track record of momentum. Let the praise ring out in the middle of the trial, because the walls of Jericho don’t fall when the battle is over—they fall when the shout goes up! Elevate your sound and conquer!
