As much as sleep is good for the body, everyone must know how vulnerable and unaware one can be when asleep. Some people will say sleep is the second death, because when someone sleeps, you do not know what is going on anymore. You are not sure of awakening.

Also, in the midst of sleep, robbery can happen, chaos can happen, important calls of uplifting and life-changing opportunities can be missed, and it goes on like that. And that is why no one must allow themselves to become vulnerable through sleep as we continue in our journey in life.

Sleep is delicate and its terminology can be in various forms. This, some farmers understood, hence the reason they will put in the midst of their farm an image of a being to chase animals away, or sometimes they create a noise that occurs every few seconds so that animals will not come near their crops in the middle of the night.

For if there is nothing like this put in place, the animals come to take over or sometimes destroy what they had in the farm, which can eventually cost the farmer a loss of fortune.

And the term can go on to businesses, to life. Many have lost job opportunities because at the time they ought to wake up and get ready for the interview, they are still sleeping. Some could not even help but miss great encounters because they sleep a lot.

Opportunities have passed some people by because they slept on information that ought to change their lives for the better.

And also from the spiritual perspective, Jesus gave a parable of how critical it is for men not to sleep when we ought to be watching, when we ought to be active, when we ought to watch our seeds grow to produce good fruits and also multiply.

That said, “While men slept” here suggests a time of vulnerability, as we know that sleep often symbolizes spiritual complacency. It sometimes also symbolizes lack of vigilance. That said, this scripture we read is a parable that highlights the importance of being spiritually alert so that our work, our labor will not be minced up with irrelevances.

So that while you are expecting wheat at the time of harvest, you will not be seeing tares among your harvest. You will not be seeing tares instead of wheat, so that you will not have your multiplied fruits become stolen away.

So that the enemy will not have what it takes to step in when you are vulnerable. No wonder Jesus often warned His disciples to watch and pray, and apostle Peter also said the same thing in 1 Peter 5:8 for us to be sober and be vigilant, for the devil our great adversary roams about, seeking whom to devour.

People become easily devoured today. Their farm (which may represent the salvation of their souls, marriage, home, joy and happiness, peace, their job inclusive) can easily grow tares because they sleep on it when Satan roams about.

And that is why sometimes you will be wondering what could be the reason a little issue in a home turned out to be a royal rumble fight between husband and wife. It is because the devil took advantage of their most vulnerable moment.

He knows that something good is coming their way. He knows it is about time for harvest, for delivery. It is about time to multiply. So he makes use of one of the tools that represents tares and sows it in their home. And that is why a little issue in such a home or life can be fueled into argument and end up as a fight.

So you see people fight when their joy is coming. You will see a couple argue on things that can be ironed out easily. Someone says a couple needs to pay attention to arguments and fights a lot in their home because most of the time, when that happens, it means that there is a blessing coming their way at that point in time, and the devil wants to sow tares. In other words, use the fight and the argument to rob them of their blessings.

No wonder the Bible says in John 10:10 that the devil came to steal, kill, and destroy. Hence the reason we CANNOT SLEEP ON IT, for if we do, we may not be able to afford repairing the damages – the damages the tares will eventually do to our wheat. The outcome, the result will be of a mixed result, and separation can cause even greater disaster.

And that is why we cannot afford to sleep on God’s plan over our lives. We cannot afford to sleep on the consciousness of what God wants us to become so that our lives may glorify Him and Him alone till His Kingdom comes.

We cannot afford to sleep on the growth, fruitfulness, and multiplication that God has purposed for us as our own portion of blessings if we can stay active for what He has put together for us.

Beloved, the rate at which people are sleeping on their growth and fruitfulness these days is alarming. People care less about God’s plan for their lives. People care less about what they need to become for God and His Kingdom. People are only after their selfish gain.

The world is also fast asleep, and no one talks about the return of Christ anymore. People sleep on the true word of God today, but their eyes are wide open when they want to listen to what their itchy ears want to hear. Their eyes are wide open when on social media or on movie platforms. Many care less about spiritual realities.

And that has given the enemy the upper hand to oppose the work of God in their lives. Beloved, enough of having Satan disrupting the plan of God over your life. It is time to wake up and be on guard. It is time to wake up and be vigilant. It is time to put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to war against the wiles of the devil.

Satan is working overtime, but we are working occasionally. We cannot afford to have him sow the weed of evil thought, evil mindset, false teachings, prayerlessness, lack of the Word into our lives.

WAKE UP! Do not sleep on it, for when we sleep on it, the tares will be planted, and when they grow, there is a tendency that they will choke up our wheat, which may delay, destroy, or kill our fruitfulness.

One thing about the devil is that he loves sneaking in and out. If you will not take my word for it, ask mother Eve in Genesis 3. So beloved, do not sleep and have him break through your wall because sometimes, the actions of what he will do may not be immediately visible. It may take a while before you see the outcome.

So why take the risk? Do not sleep on it.

I receive the grace, strength, and power to remain vigilant.

 I will not become a prey in the mouth of the evil lion.
