We give God the praise for bringing us to the end of this series. We started from “No Longer the Same,” to “The Mother Hen,” to “Deficiency Syndrome,” to “Growth in Stature and Favor,” and today we are looking into “Supernatural Growth,” which is our series title also.

We have emphasized so much on some things that we must do for there to be supernatural growth, and today by His grace, we want to look into another aspect that brings growth beyond our imagination.

From where we read, for there to be growth, what God wants from us is to walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, for there is no one who walks in the counsel of the ungodly that grows, not to talk of becoming blessed with supernatural growth.

And what we must know is that one of the ways people will know that we have grown is when they see the blessings of the Lord over our lives. However, to be blessed, we must avoid standing in the path of sinners. We must avoid sitting in the seat of the scornful also.

One of the questions a believer should ask is, why is there no growth? Why do we lack growth? And I believe the answer is right there in verse 1: that walking in the counsel of the ungodly is the reason why many lack growth. Standing in the path of the sinners is the reason towards zero growth. Sitting in the seat of the scornful is the reason why there is no growth.

Because these deeds are not meant for the children of God but for the ungodly, and one thing we must know is that those who are ungodly cannot experience the growth of God which will yield blessings and supernatural growth toward them.

The God we serve is a God who wants us to grow beyond the ordinary. There is a certainty of supernatural growth when we do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the path of the sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.

There is a certainty of supernatural growth when we meditate on the word of God day and night, and that is when we will be like a tree planted by the river of water, meaning we will grow beyond drought and deficiency. 

Because to be planted by the streams of water can be metaphorically interpreted as stability and nourishment and vitality. So what this represents is that a life that experiences supernatural growth is a life that will be constantly nourished and sustained, and this can only come by being deeply rooted in the word of God.

We will also bring forth our fruit in its season, which means our lives will not be barren but be multiplied with God’s supernatural blessings. Our seasons will be filled with surplus of His goodness in a timely manner. We will be productive in the will of God just as the tree bears fruit at the right time. Those who are righteous will produce good works and spiritual fruit at the right moments.

Our leaves will not also wither like others, for the Lord will make us go through the spiritual photosynthesis that will make us grow and be fulfilled. For a leaf that does not wither while growing was because of its vitality and resilience.

In other words, when we experience supernatural growth, it does not matter what climate you find yourself in, you will become remarkable in the eyes of others because while others’ leaves wither because of the deficiency syndrome of the word of God, you will remain vital, resilient,  vibrant and steadfast despite all challenges.

Hence the reason we must remain connected to God if we want to grow beyond the ordinary and enjoy the blessings that follow, for there is a promise of spiritual perseverance for those who are in God, who are connected to His Word.

And lastly, everything we do will prosper. There is nothing as good as having everything prospering in your lifetime. The Bible says God made David prosper in his going out and coming in, and this is because he chose to walk with God and not with the ungodly.

Some believe prosperity comes from materialism, but I would be pleased to tell you that it is not limited to that but also encompasses your spiritual well-being, as the concept of prosperity includes your achievement in fulfilling God’s purposes and experiencing His blessings that are beyond common.

No wonder the Bible made mention in Joshua 1:8: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

So I want to let you know, beloved, that our lives must be lived in accordance with the Word of God, and that will lead to a growth that many are yet to experience. 

Our supernatural growth can only be strongly derived from our rooted relationship with God, who is the source of all growth.
