KNOWING WHAT YOU CARRY | JESUS, THE NAME ABOVE EVERY NAME SERIES | JUNE 2026

Preacher:
Passage: John 6:1-11

Thank God for this second part in this series. Last week, we talked about “The Privileged,” and today, by the grace of God, what we shall talk about is “KNOWING WHAT YOU CARRY.”

What does it mean to know what you carry? Knowing what you carry is a concept deeply rooted in understanding your internal weight, your spiritual or emotional capacity, your understanding of the invisible impact you bring into any environment.

It is the awareness that you are not empty; you are a vessel holding specific gifts, wisdom, solutions, or an “atmosphere” that changes the room you walk into.

Knowing what you carry means you know that you are loaded. You know your presence carries a specific power, wisdom, or solution that will manifest no matter what label you are given.

And this cannot be overemphasized when we come to our spiritual aspect of life, because knowing what you carry as a child of God, as who God has qualified you to be, really goes a long way with how you see things, how you deal with whatever comes your way, with what the devil is saying concerning you.

It goes a long way beyond what the world is trying to make us. Sometimes, it may seem good in our eyes. Sometimes, it may come as a reward of what the world believes we represent. However, knowing what you truly carry is what will make you go beyond the limitation the world may put on you or want to lure you into. Amen

The ability God has given us can be a snare to us if care is not taken due to the responses and accolades we receive from people due to the potentials they see in us, and that can easily make us settle for less when what God loaded us with is greater and mightier than the lesser we are about to settle ourselves in.

Hence the reason, knowing what you carry is paramount if we want to function aright and also get to where God has purposed for us. And that is why the case study of Jesus in the scenario of willing to feed the 5,000 is what we all need to pay attention to so that we will not be manipulated, willingly or unwillingly, to be deprived of our spiritual capacity.

So firstly, I believe it is always good to know who you are and what you carry as a child of God. It is good to know why you are in the field God put you in. It is good to know what the capacity of the engine inside of you is so that you will not sell yourself cheap, stooping so low to the level God already placed you above.

Because sometimes we believe where God positioned us is just for the money. We believe that we are there to become the face of everyone, to represent ourselves, or to just remain dormant and idle. Or to see just like others in their mindset.

In the context of Jesus testing one of His disciples called Philip by asking him a question on how the people he just preached to will be fed, it is so obvious that Jesus knew what He would do because of what He carries.

Even though others did not know what He carries, it is easy for Him to be brought so low to the same mindset of Philip who believes buying food is really the utmost solution that can be found or given to those who are hungry in this context.

However, Jesus, knowing what He carries, would not box or trap Himself with that same mindset. Also, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, identified the one with five barley loaves of bread and two fishes, which is something, but could not feed 5,000 people. And that also would have captured Jesus’ mindset to be reduced to the fact that it is impossible to feed people with that small food.

But because He knows what He carries, knowing that He can turn impossibility to possibility, knowing that He has not come to seek validation but to deliver solutions, He will not consent to the natural mindset of His disciples but rather see beyond what they could not see via His spiritual capacity.

What is this telling us, beloved? When you know what you carry, your behavior shifts from seeking validation to delivering solutions. Even if what others see is just a fist of water in the cloud, you know that, that will eventually become a flood of rain.

Even though when others see impossibilities, knowing what you carry should give you the confidence to make impossibilities become possibilities. That mindset is what I want you to carry with you as you continue in your journey because having Jesus in you is carrying Jesus in you, and this Jesus you carry cannot be limited, cannot be reduced to the natural mindset of what others believe with their eyes or see happening to others, but rather operate in the capacity of what you carry.

Beloved, you don’t know what God has deposited in you. That is why you are the one coming down to the level of those with small or no mindset. That is why you easily consent to their ideas. That is why you cannot fly higher into the realm of the Spirit. That is why you think so little of yourself when God has given you wings.

You know that there is a story of this duck who lost its way and ended up among the chickens. And every time the chickens want to jump, they are always afraid due to their mindset, but as we all know God gave more wings to ducks as they can fly higher. But due to the fact that it was in the midst of the chickens, it forgot who it was, what it carries, until one day it grows older and sees ducks like her flying high, and she tried and was able to do what she could never do before.

She did not know she had it. There is something inside of you. There is something you carry. It is inside of you. Knowing it is what is needed. You cannot let anything, anyone, stop you from operating to the fullest of what you carry.

You carry solutions, not just problems, and in that place God has put you, while everyone else is panicking, what you carry must be released to calm or stabilize your environment. Some of you carry a spirit of strategy. Some of you carry a spirit of listening ears. Whenever it is released, people will naturally listen.

Some of you carry peace that can make anxious people around you calm down. Some of you carry discernment that spots lies and hidden motives instantly. To some, it is creativity. There is something inside of you that you carry. You must pray for the grace to release it appropriately so that you can become the solution your environment and the world is looking for.

As a child of God, there is something God has deposited in you, just like it is in Jesus. Others could not see it. They did not know it, but Jesus knew, and He would not hesitate to release it when it is needed.

And that is why you cannot feel intimidated by other people’s gifts. What you carry is enough to change the atmosphere without looking for titles and badges. You are the exact solution to the problem being discussed, so do not shut yourself off.

The nations are waiting. The people are hungry, beloved. Become the solution with the Jesus you carry. Become the salvation in the Jesus you carry. And when you do this, what you carry will be multiplied because you are using it the way God wills it.

Because what you carry is not just for you; it is meant to serve others. A doctor doesn’t carry medical knowledge for their own health; they carry it to heal the sick. Your gifts are meant to be deployed for the benefit of the room.

And lastly, knowing what you carry also comes with a sense of stewardship and responsibility. In other words, it requires your maintenance. So protect what is inside of you by not surrounding yourself with constant negativity without boundaries, because when you do so, you leak what you carry.
