OBEISANCE (MARCH 2026 SERIES)
We give God the praise for this blessed series. We started with “Take It Off,” “If You Do Well,” and last week, “The Pledged Allegiance.” We are wrapping up this series with the title “OBEISANCE.”
All the sermons we’ve heard in this series give us the reasons towards becoming obeisant, and I made mention that becoming obeisant is more important and of more essence than obedience. You can choose not to be loyal but obey due to circumstances that warrant your obedience, due to repercussions, penalty, and the like.
Sometimes you just have to obey the speed limit because you don’t want to be stopped by the police or receive a red light ticket, right? People find themselves obeying for a reason profitable to them, either through fear or through gain.
However, being obeisant has nothing to do with fear or profitable gain because you are obeisant because of your loyalty, your labor of love, your unmatched love for the one you are obeisant to, which always comes with the reward of an inheritance.
And that is the main contrast between obeisance and obedience. You receive a reward, a token, a share, a leftover, a part of the inheritance when you obey, but being obeisant opens the door to accessing everything that belongs to your leader.
And when God is the One you are showing obeisance to, whatever is God’s is yours. He will give you access to all that belongs to Him, and while every other people are lobbying before being granted access, you as the loyal one have the keys in your hand because your obeisance opens a pathway of trust between you and God, and God will not hide anything from you.
Such was the case study of Abraham, whose loyalty was unmatchable as he would not, for a second, query God for what God was requesting from him. No wonder he was given an opportunity to discuss earthly matters with God when God was about to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Gen. 18:17
There is a level of trust that your obeisance can take you to which your obedience could not. There is an access to knowing God’s heart because God has trusted you in your loyalty. The keys to the kingdom that would be given to you because you have submitted yourself to His bidding.
God do not want anyone with partial obedience, hence the reason, Jesus told the Peter, leave what you doing and follow me…leaving every irrelevances to become relevant in God is an act of obeisance, letting go of every form of distraction to hold on to what Jesus offers is an act of obeisance.
God is looking for those who He will trust with managing His company on earth, those who are loyal, those who He can trust, those who will not be hot today and cold tomorrow, those who will not be lukewarm or only obey because of what they want to get from God.
And that is why your obedience is not enough but becoming obeisant means everything to God. Amen!
This is the reason why your obeisance is of high importance, for there is access to God’s blessings, God’s favor, God’s treasures, God’s increase that obeisance will grant you, somebody, but all we have to do is to show to God how obeisant we are.
And that is why saying amen to the blessings in Deuteronomy 28 will not suffice, but rather we must be obeisant so that the blessings can be ours.
So God was telling His people here that it shall come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God. You may say they did not mention “obeisance.” However, to “diligently” obey explains it all.
If you will diligently obey, if you will prove to God that you will obey Him not because of fear or profitable gain but because of your humility, loyalty, allegiance, commitment, dedication, devotion, faithfulness, and steadfastness among many to Him.
Then, the first thing God will do is that He will set you high above the nations. Amen. For God to do that means that He has weighed you and seen your commitment, dedication, your obeisance, and He can now trust you with His blessings.
In other words, your obeisance is the pathway to accessing the hidden treasures of God that are meant for the world. You will be blessed and be overtaken by the blessings of the Lord.
Beloved, we all have a responsibility to show obeisance to the One who has called us to be His own, not only when we are in need, when we are desperate, when things are not going our way, when we are satisfied, but always, beloved.
For the nations to be given to us as an inheritance, to have access to His provision, to become the head and not the tail would require our obeisance to the Almighty.
How far can we go in proving our loyalty to God? He is demanding diligent obedience from us in order for us to receive all of His rich blessings in the land, in order to have His blessings become the source of our joy.
In order for the people and the nations to see God’s presence and His blessing on us, His people, and they will stand in awe of the greatness of the Lord in us.
There is this good treasure stored up for us, beloved, but only the loyal ones are destined to access the inaccessible. Hence the reason your obeisance is the key.
The Lord is ready to be the source of our blessings, but we have to follow Him alone in the pursuit of our happiness. We have to follow Him in obeisance and never to look in any other direction for insight, for in Him, we must live, move, and have our being.
I pray for you to receive the grace for obeisance in Jesus’ name.
