DIVINE NAVIGATION
We give God the praise for bringing us to the end of this series for the month of February. We started with “Grateful Praise,” “His Word, My Guide,” “The Waymaker,” and today, we are ending with “Divine Navigation.”
As we might have all known, navigation is the process of figuring out how to get from one place to another. In other words, knowing where you are and planning the best route to get to your destination. We’ve made mention of people using tools like maps, GPS, or back in the days, people used the stars just for them to be able to direct their journey to their destination.
We see people who are using this to be sailors of ships, pilots of planes, drivers of cars, and even in this era, many have to be taught how to navigate through a page, website, a device, you name it. And the excitement and peace they derive from getting it right is superfluous.
And also, we have seen those who move from point A to point B because God is their Navigator, their GPS, their maps. As if that was not enough, He is also the sailor, driver, pilot, and guide. And because of this, they found their journey to be smooth and successful even much more than the reliance on physical maps, GPS, and knowledge of the road.
For God knows it all, and having Him navigating the way for us as we journey through the busyness of life is what can make us not be overwhelmed with the impediments we may encounter in our journey.
So this morning by the grace of God, what we shall be talking about will give us the opportunity to see beyond every other navigation. As we know that every other navigation can only take us thus far, we’ve already talked about how what you rely on, such as GPS and guides, to take you from point A to point B can malfunction, fail, mislead due to glitches and so on.
Having God navigate us through life is what should be paramount to us because we can easily become stranded in our journey if we make God secondary in our journey in life.
Hence the reason our navigation dependence must be divine, must be in Yahweh. For the Bible has made us know that those who are navigating through life in their own knowledge majorly did not have a happy ending.
Even the Israelites, whom God led by the pillar of cloud by day and fire by night, the Israelites whom God walked through the wilderness with, who heard the story of the great leading of the Most High, when they decided to navigate through life in their own knowledge and idolatrous knowledge outside God, ended up failing.
For the expectation is for every one of us to look unto God, the One who knows the end from the beginning, to navigate us through life. However, sometimes and every time, we tend to forget that God is the surest Navigator to depend on, and we rebel by saying we will rather trust in our own resources, our own money, our own strength, our own way of doing things. We say the Word of God cannot be enough to navigate us through life. We say the true prophet should not prophesy again. We say they should only speak to us smooth things and deceits that will satisfy our flesh.
We find it difficult to submit ourselves to the guidance of the Holy One and we despise what He is telling us. We trust in what our itching ears want to hear and we are misled every single time even though we think we are on the right path. For we forsook being divinely navigated by the Holy One whose eyes go to and fro all over the earth.
Beloved, this word of God is coming to us this morning so that we can shift our focus off every resource or things that we depend on for navigation. For they cannot take us far. They can misguide us. They can show us things convincing to be true. They can glitter like gold, but the destination they lead us to is regret.
But one thing is for sure, those who rely on the Divine for navigation are the ones whose journey comes with a smooth ride and will be victorious, even in the midst of the storm, with a happy ending because He who leads them by the way is the Almighty One.
And that is why, if you have not submitted yourself to His divine navigation, God is here for you today to be gracious to you. He is here to have mercy on you. He is here to lead and guide you on the way to go. He is here to speak to your hearing, His word.
Perhaps what you have been hearing before is the word of the world. Perhaps what you’ve been trusting in before to navigate you from one point to another is your strength, is your money, is your wisdom and knowledge. Perhaps it is idols and shams.
It is high time that you submit the wheel of your heart to Him so that He can drive you through the ups and downs of life. For in Him you will know what to do next, where to go next, what would be the next plan of action. In Him, you will be saved from evil traffic.
In Him, your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.
And when you submit to His navigation, time will be saved, destiny will not be delayed. While others may be clamoring because of being clueless of what to do, where to go, you who are navigated through what God is leading you with will be making moves in ease and peace. Amen.
People can be frustrated because of the lack of knowing what to do, where to go, what is the next plan of action, but you will not be frustrated.
People can be weeping because they are stuck, but you will not be stuck. For even though it may look as if you are stuck, but because of you letting Him take over, you will see that when you cry to Him for help, He will be gracious to you at the sound of your cry, somebody.
Let God navigate you through it all. Let Him be your Divine Navigator. Let Him figure out for you how to get from one place to another. Make Him your GPS, your map, your star, and step by step He will guide you, somebody.
He will not let you be crushed, He will not let you miss the road or get stuck in traffic, but He will give you the abundance of the earth when you submit your wheel to Him.
Verse 23 says: “Then He will give the rain for your seed with which you sow the ground, and bread of the increase of the earth; it will be fat and plentiful. In that day your cattle will feed in large pastures.”
