PROCLAMATION OF PRAISE

Preacher:
Series:
Passage: Mark 5:1-20

We give God the praise for the past series, and by His grace we are starting a new series called “NEW MANDATES,” and the first part of this series shall be titled “Proclamation of Praise.”

What is proclamation of praise? This is a public announcement of what God has done in someone’s life, which is of great importance, which cannot be hidden so that it can bring glorification to the name of our God in the life of the praise giver.

This is of high importance to God as God appreciates those who know how to give praise for the great things He has done in their lives, and this also is of higher importance to God than sitting idle and keeping mute in absence of appreciation.

No wonder in the book of Psalm 66, the psalmist was calling everyone to come and hear what the Lord has done for his soul. Why? Because of what the Lord God has done for him, he would not hesitate to proclaim and declare to everyone around him, far and near.

The praise of the Lord in our mouth must be consistent, for He is God and there is no other, and I believe there is nothing in this world that should alter the praise of the Lord from being proclaimed in our mouth. Amen.

The case study of this man here, which I believe many of us might have heard the story before, is one that needs much of our attention. Someone who had spent most of his life living in the tombs with unclean spirits, no one was able to bind him, not even with chains, because he had often been bound with shackles and chains and the chains had been pulled apart by him. He would cut himself with stones. However, when he encountered Jesus, everything about him humbled itself and worshiped Jesus, and he was delivered.

And after being delivered, his expectation of a new journey, a new beginning, a new life to start living, was to become a follower. He wanted to become a supporter, an admirer, and wanted to follow the cause. But Jesus was like, “No, there is something beyond you being a supporter that you need to do” – and that is, to testify to God’s kindness.

And Jesus encouraged him to start a new leaf by giving him a new mandate of proclamation of praise.

So, his encounter with Jesus was not limited to just his deliverance and healing but also receiving a NEW mandate to go to his friends and tell them what great things the Lord had done for him and how Jesus had compassion on him.

He received a mandate to proclaim the praise of the Lord as he stands as a solid witness that would continue from where Jesus stops. As we all know, Jesus was not well received in that region called Decapolis because His presence had cost some of them financial loss and He was told to depart from their region because of all that had happened.

And what is this telling us as well? What Jesus is doing in our lives, homes, marriages, jobs, and more is a testament that we must embrace so as to proclaim the praise of the Lord to everyone around us, far and near.

We cannot but share with the world what the Lord God has done for us and how He has been faithful to His words in our lives. We must understand that these things that He has done, these things that He is doing at the moment, and the ones He will do must make us proclaim His praise everywhere we go, among friends, relatives, and those who do not know Him.

For Jesus is not looking for a supporter or an admirer but a proclaimer of His praise, a sharer of His goodness, someone who will not hesitate to go tell it on the mountain and in the valley how God has had compassion on them.

Beloved, there is something new that God is going to do for you in this month, and the word of God for you is to make sure that your testimony brings more people to Christ, because one thing you must know is that your following Jesus is not enough but to stand on His mandate. In other words, your praise of Him must go viral, and your knowledge of what God has done for you and is capable of doing must not be limited to you only, but you must tell it to everyone.

Because we are all here as His ambassadors, and there are many people out there who are not yet marveled until they hear the miraculous and the wondrous story from a soul like them. What God has done for you that you are keeping to yourself is something that would make others marvel and also bring some of them to Christ.

Proclaim the praise of the Lord today. Let it be known to those who do not know that God is able to do just what He says He will do. He is able to cast demons into the swine and deliver souls from persecutors who are stronger than them.

He is able to make your desires evident and make your story become glory. Let them know that you are a living testimony, and that is why you are here to proclaim the praise of Yahweh.

Isaiah 12:4 says, “And in that day you will say: ‘Give praise to the LORD; proclaim His name! Make His works known among the peoples; declare that His name is exalted.'”

This is what the Acts of the Apostles understood, and they said in Acts 4:20, “For we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.” They saw Jesus and His miraculous work, they lived with Him, they know He is all sufficient and powerful.

This Apostle Paul understood and he was able to proclaim the praise of Yahweh, the praise of how he was delivered by Jesus through a divine and powerful encounter on the road to Damascus.

Beloved, that which you have seen and heard, proclaim it and let it bring others to Christ. You have a mandate in proclaiming the praise of Yahweh. It is high time you do the needful so that others may marvel and come to Christ through you.
